Charlie began his career as a contractor in the late 1970s. He later formed his own building company in the early 1990s alongside his wife, Kristy, and he obtained his real estate license in 2006. His family history in the North Georgia Mountains dates back to the 1800s with relatives having constructed local landmarks such as the Baugh Museum in downtown Blue Ridge and the Mineral Bluff Train Depot.
